Analysis of Rates for Civil Engineering

In order to determine the rate of a particular item, the factors affecting the rate of that item are studied carefully and then finally a rate is decided for that item. This process of determining the rates of an item is termed as analysis of rates or rate analysis.
The rate of a particular item of work depends on the following:
1. Specifications of works and material about their quality, proportion and constructional operation method.
2. Quantity of materials and their costs.
3. Cost of labours and their wages.
4. Location of the site of work and the distances from source and conveyance charges.
5. Overhead and establishment charges
6. Profit
Cost of materials at source and at the site of construction:

The costs of materials are taken as delivered at site inclusive of the transport local taxes and other charges.

HONEYCOMBS IN CONCRETE AND REMEDIES Honeycombs  are hollow spaces and cavities left in concrete mass on a surface or inside the concrete mass where concrete could not reach. These look like honey bees nest. When concrete is poured into the formwork it does not just flow in like water and fill up the forms to the top. Crank Bar in  slab The slab is supported at two ends. The maximum tensile stress that is positive moments (sagging) acting in the middle of the slab and the maximum compressive stress that is negative moments (hogging) acting at both ends of the support. So bottom steel is required at the mid-span and top steel resists negative moments at the supports. A bent-up bar called a  crank bar  is provided to make RCC slab safe from compressive stresses.
